I have changed my username, but the old one still shows up in Google searches
-
I changed my username to better anonymize my blog, as it previously contained my last name. I made the change from “osterkatzpoli” to “travelingfolk” two days ago, but when i search “osterkatzpoli” in google, the posts all still come up.
How long should this take to stop happening?
Do I need to do something else to push the change through?Thank you!

hmmm, does contacting your support with a question produce a publicly viewable note? it certainly does. given that it’s a question about blog privacy i would have phrased it differently, can you please take this down? i can’t see how to do it myself.
it is a bit surprising that you have this set up this way and the contact form doesn’t state clearly that this is what is happening. i see this forum post dealing with precisely this issue http://wordpress.org/support/topic/delete-forum-questions

Regardless, all of your posts are as they were on Google because their search results aren’t instantly updated, this can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to a couple of months.

Google clears their caches every 3 – 6 months and Bing is roughly the same. There are other search engines that never clear theirs.
