I have got wrong domain name

The first step of creation of WordPress site is to fill in “Site address” field.
So I wrote “victoriagarbar.wordpress.com” BUT got an error message
“Sorry but victoriagarbar.wordpress.com does not appear to be a valid domain name.”
So WordPress suggested me to choose a site name like “victoriagarbarwordpresscom.wordpress.com” – which looks very ugly!
How can I change it to “victoriagarbar.wordpress.com”?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

I just checked this domain name on WordPress.com. It said “victoriagarbar.wordpress.com doesn’t exist… Do you want to register victoriagarbar.wordpress.com?”

    Screnshot: https://arafatbs.files.wordpress.com/2015/08/victoriagarbar.png

So, I think it’s available to register. So can you please try again?

    Best of luck.

Try registering a second blog (you can have more than one blog per account) – try Just

    victoriagarbar

No extra stuff – adding the period & WordPress.com on the first try I think is the problem

I need to change a domain name. At first I originally registered riverdaleplates.com, but canceled that and changed it to the riverdale4thward.org, within the 2 days allowed because I didn’t think it adequately identified my specific ward. Now I’m being told by church authorities that I am not allowed to identify my specific ward in the domain name. Can I please change the name to riverdaleplates.org? It is available. I am being reimbursed by the church for the $18 I quoted them for the domain name and I don’t want to bill them $36 for something that was my mistake. :(

The original domain name that I purchased was still accessible to me, so I have switched to it. I thought I was refunded for that one, but I don’t know if it actually went through or not. So I guess this issue is more or less resolved.

@riverdale4thward – looks like something might be a bit odd with things – it looks like the 2nd name is past the 48 hour refund period – I have flagged this for the staff to review your charges – you might end up with a 2nd registration charge of $5.-/yr – – the other upgrades should transfer to the correct domain name

  • Hi @viktys15 / @riverdale4thward ! You’re good to go… you’ve got just the one $18 charge. :) I’ve ensured that your ward-based-domain was removed as well. If you need to change your username, too, this article will step you through. Take care!
