I have lost access to my website

The site was saying ‘There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.’ when I tried to edit it. I found a forum saying to try disconnecting jetpack and reconnecting, but when I did the site disappeared from my dashboard.

When attempting to edit my webpage I was given ‘There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.’ but no email was sent. I was reading a solution on a forum that said to disconnect and reconnect jetpack, but as soon as I disconnected the website disappeared from my dashboard. Please help!

This request keeps changing the url of my inaccessible webpage. The correct url is “https://www.valemountmuseum.ca/”

  • Hey there @valemountmuseum, these are actually the forums for free sites hosted by WordPress.com, but we can probably point you in the right direction:

    – You should have an email with more details. If you don’t see that, can you contact your host? They can also help you check error logs and restore a recent backup if you have one. Note there are other backup services, too; if you’re using something like Jetpack Backup, you could restore through that instead.

    – If this happened with a recent theme or plugin update or install, your host can help you remove just that one plugin or theme through their interface if needed.

    – This guide can help, too: https://wordpress.org/support/article/common-wordpress-errors/

Going forward, here are a few tips on finding help with your WordPress installation: https://wordpress.com/support/help-support-options/#word-press-org-support

And here’s the difference between our hosting services and the free software: https://get.wp.com

Once you’ve fixed whatever error you’ve been facing, you should be able to reconnect Jetpack, by the way, which will allow you to manage the site here again.

    Hoping this helps!

Now the website itself is saying “critical error” even though I have not changed anything. I have checked what I believe is the admin email and there is no email. Any recommendations?

Again, since your website is not hosted here, we’re limited to what we can help with.

You should reach out to your host for help with this issue. Since they’re hosting your site’s files, they also have access to those files and are the best ones to help you find and fix whatever is causing the error.

If you still have trouble, please reach out to the WordPress community for guidance:
