I have lost the comments window from my blog

I have lost the comments window from my blog
    Blog: http://www.ifeck.com (ifeck.wordpress.com)
    Theme: Wu Wei

I’ve tried to find answers google…community… support pages… theme support pages… etc without look. I’ve made sure comments are enabled for the blog and for individual pages. If I create a trackback (for example) from elsewhere, they show up on the comments count and I can see them in the Dashboard… but not on the page
Any help would be much appreciated

  • Hi there – I’m seeing comments on your posts alright, for example here:

    http://ifeck.com/2012/11/30/stm/#comments

Could you please let me know in a little more detail where you’re missing the comments box? Could you provide a link or a screenshot? You could upload it to your media library and give me the filename so I can take a peek.

Is it that you want the ability for visitors to leave comments to pages (like your About page) as well as on posts?

Once we have more information we’ll be glad to help further.

Hi and thanks for the offer of help.

The question of the comments, applies only to visitors viewing and/or leaving comments on my WordPress.com blog.

I’ve illustrated the problem on this blog page: http://www.ifeck.com/private
You can see there are 4 screen shots, explained below.

I am experiencing two problems: In the page on the URL you quote in your reply I can see everything I expect to see. This icludes:

    1) A navigation “bar” for ‘following’ entry, ‘previous’ entry (displayed by entry title), direclty below the themes page header (ifeck logo) (See screen 1 and screen 2 – Screen 1 is what I see, and screen 2 comes from your “full” URL).

    2) A comments box (Enter your comments here), for browsers to enter comments, and any comments that may have already been left, directly below the categories listing for that blog entry, and above the three widget columns that form the footer to the page. (See screen 3 and screen 4 – Screen 3 is what I see, and screen 4 comes from your “full” URL).

I note that the URL in your reply is a full URL, it actually ends “/#comments”

If I use your URL and then navigate through the blog entries using the navigation “bar” menitoned in (1) above, and visible on screen 2, everything works fine.

However if I simply enter the base URL: http://www.ifeic.com I get the first page of the blog, but both items (1) and (2) above (screen 1 & 3) are missing. I have also noticed that the “page properties – title” normally found in the browser tab, is also missing.

It doesn’t seem to matter how I browse. I’ve tried this on multiple machines from multiple locations. If I enter a full URL, as the one you supplied all is fine. If I enter just the domain name it’s not.

Anything you can do to help will be greatly appreciated.

    Regards
    D

The comment box is not displayed on the blog front page. This is a convention of most themes, and indeed, most blogging systems. This keeps the front page of the blog clean.

Links to the “previous” and “next” posts are only visible on individual blog posts – that’s called the “single” view – so that visitors can navigate from one blog post to the next. If you’re on the blog’s front page, users can simply scroll down to get to the next blog post.

    This is all normal behaviour.

I have also noticed that the “page properties – title” normally found in the browser tab, is also missing.

Your posts’ title tabs are looking OK to me. Here’s an example:

Would you mind giving me a link to a post, and let me know specifically what you’re expecting to see in the browser tab that you’re not? Thanks.
