I have made my blog private – how do I stop sending emails to subscribers?

I have decided to make my blog private, for friends and family, after receiving some criticism about its intentions. I don’t have many email subscribers, but there are a few. How do I stop them getting email alerts every time I publish new content? They won’t be able to read it – I don’t want to annoy them. Also, how do I set a password for friends and family?!

    Thank you

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

When you change your blog’s Privacy Settings to make it private, WordPress.com stops sending out notifications to your subscribers. Only users you invite to view the private blog will be able to receive notifications about it now that’s it’s private. (The old subscribers will still be listed there, in case you decide to make the blog public again, but they won’t receive notifications now.)

You can invite your friends and family to view your private blog if you’d like them to be able to see it. They’ll need to create a WordPress.com account for that — there isn’t a way to password-protect the entire blog with just a password, but once they have a WordPress.com account they can log in to view your private blog.

Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
