I have many posts not showing
-
I have more than 1,000 posts, each of them very short quotes. The title of the post is the author of the quote. I do not know why my WordPress is only showing some 20 posts.
It does not show the “older posts” link at the bottom.
It does not perform searches on the missing posts. Can someone please tell me what I’m doing wrong?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
The homepage of the site https://citationist.wordpress.com/ is displaying 4 posts. If you’re using a Blog Posts Block in a static front page, then the number of posts to display on the page may be changed, as indicated in the Display Settings section of the Blog Posts Block support page. While the setting allows up to 100 posts to be displayed on a page, the support page suggests fewer than 15. You may also enable a Show “Load more posts” Button in the block’s display settings.
Where do you find 20 posts displayed?
Your 2022 posts archive page displays 4 posts per page, but has has 277 pages, so that’s well over 1,000 posts. The number of posts per page, presently set at 4, may be changed in at least a couple of places, within Reading Settings and Writings Settings. See the Blog Pages Show At Most section of the Reading Settings support page, and the Content Types section of the Writing Settings support page for relevant information, instructions, and illustrations.

This makes a lot of sense. I think I repaired my main posts page.
The posts will always be quotes. There are a lot of them. Do you have any idea why the search results are never correct?

Good work fixing the posts page!
Regarding search results:
Please provide more details on how search results aren’t meeting your expectations. The Search Block support page provides a brief explanation of how WP.com search results work — what is does and doesn’t do, and some specifics on how the results are ordered.I don’t really know a lot about the search feature, so if you want a detailed explanation you could add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar at right here to call for staff attention. One aspect that I’m aware of is that to search for an exact phrase, such as Betjeman’s “Against an unencumbered sky,” then the keyword phrase entered into the search field should be in quotes, otherwise the results will (I think) include every post and page where any one of the keywords appears in its title or body.

I just did some testing of the search tool on your site, starting at various pages. In every case, whether I entered a single word or a phrase, in quotes or not, the results were all posts (277 pages, 4 posts per page), and no pages. I’m going to call for staff attention to see if they can explain what’s happening there. Staff will respond here.

Hi!
I also see your search results are definitely returning the same things every time. I understand that you’re using a theme which is compatible with the Site Editor; so within your Site Editor, it’s likely that there’s a small switch in your search template which should fix this.
When you go to the Appearance menu of your site, and click on “Editor (beta)”, it’ll open the site edtor, and you should have the template name at the top of the site editor, of the template it opens first. Click on that, then click on “Browse all templates”. You’ll want to open the “Search” template to edit it.
When you’ve been able to open the “Search” template, you should normally have a Query Loop in the search template. That Query Loop has a button in its settings in the left-hand panel: “Inherit query from template”.
Please activate this button – you shouldn’t see it change very much within the template view, but once you save the changes and then try searching on your live site, it should get the search results to work a lttle better!
For reference, this part of the Query Loop guide refers to the “inherit query from template” setting:
