I have many questions about my WordPress site.

I have many questions to help me understand my website.

1- In the left margin under ‘people’ and my ‘Team’ it lists 144 ‘authors’ who are these authors? And why are they part of my team? I am the only author for my website.
2- I have a few ‘subscribers’ How did they become subscribers and what do they receive? What is the difference between a subscriber and follower?
3- It says my site has no ‘likes’, but I cannot find any like buttons on my posts. So how are readers able to express their ‘likes’?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi
Looks like your domain thechamberlainstory.com is using a self-hosted version of WordPress & not hosted with WordPress.com

You can read more about WordPress.com & WordPress.org here:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Support for self-hosted version of WordPress is provided at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Please post a support request on WordPress.org forums. Folks there will help you to sort it out.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

    Have a good day!

    Hi there @mtopublishing,

    1. Just to address the issue of Authors, it looks like you have registration enabled on your standalone WP site (in the Meta widget) and that perhaps the current default for new site registrations is set to “Author.” If you don’t want people to be able to register for your standalone WP site, you should turn this setting off.

Here’s what Staff said in this thread:

You can disable that setting under Settings ->General in the WP-Admin dashboard, and you can remove any users who shouldn’t be there under Users ->All Users.

If you do want people to be able to register for your site, you should change that setting under General in WP Admin to “Subscriber” if it isn’t already. (Do be aware that some people/bots use this setting to spam your site. If that happens, you’ll want to make sure you have a good anti-spam plugin installed. If you need recommendations, please ask at ORG.)

    2. Subscribers and Followers are essentially the same. If you are using the Jetpack plugin on your site, you can learn more about that here: https://jetpack.com/support/subscriptions/

    3. Adding the ability to Like a post on standalone WP sites is a part of the Jetpack plugin. If you’ve enabled that plugin on your site, you can add the Like button to posts and pages following this guide: https://jetpack.com/support/likes/

If you have any further questions about your standalone WP site, please post to the support forums on ORG https://wordpress.org/support/ as mentioned above and also search the documentation there. If you’ve installed and have questions about the Jetpack plugin, they have a forum here: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack If you don’t have a username on the ORG forums, you can register one on that page.

    Hope that helps and Cheers!
