I have no location box
-
Under screen options, there’s no ‘location’ there to enable the location box -> I can’t set posts as featured.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
From what I’ve read, the Location option in Screen Options only appears in the Add Post screen; not in the main screen.
The 4th post down on this thread mentions it.
Can you check and see if it is there for you?

This seems like it is specific to the Oxygen theme you are using, so hopefully that post I linked above will help. I looked on my own blog, but as I am using a different theme I don’t have the same options you do.

I can’t find how to give a post a ‘Sticky’ status either.
I have a nasty suspicion it only works if you buy Premium and it’s a mistake to have shown it in the demo of the Free theme. -
The answer to the question is here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/oxygen-theme-no-location-box?replies=2#post-2254940
I’d like to offer some advice and it is please use use tag search and Google search oxygen no location box site:en.forums.wordpress.com to locate posting answers.

Then note that this thread is focused on the Oxygen theme and you are using Confit so you ought not to be posting here at all.To create your own threads use this link https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1

Using Oxygen theme and trying to get the Slider to work on the Home page set as a Static Front Page.

@stephendevere
The site linked to your username is https://stephendevere.wordpress.com/ and you did not provide a link to a blog wearing the Oxygen theme. That gives rise to the question: What is the URL starting with http:// of the WordPress.COM hosted blog wearing the Oxygen theme please. Please post it here. Please consult the detailed theme description here http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/oxygen/ There are also many threads that explain how the Oxygen theme is designed to operate.
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/oxygenIn Oxygen you can either have a Home page that displays your posts or a static front page ie. a Showcase template. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/#setting-up-a-static-front-page
Page templates can be set under the “Page Attributes” section on the page editor screen. For more information on Page Attributes:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-attributes/Showcase page template
When you first activate Oxygen, you’ll see your posts in a traditional blog format but if you’d like to showcase your content in an online magazine-like fashion, then you can use the Showcase Page template. …Post thumbnails are 470 pixels wide, unless you make the post Sticky to show off in the featured slider, in which case they’re 750 pixels wide. Keep in mind: if you mark a post as Sticky but the featured image is less than 750 pixels wide, then it won’t display in the slider and will still disappear from the river of posts.
Please be aware that you cannot crop the sticky post thumbnails.
Sticky post thumbnails are 750 pixels wide in the featured slider
Regular post thumbnails are 470 pixels wide

Oxygen
http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/#setting-a-featured-imageIf you don’t see the page attributes module then make sure that you don’t have it hidden in your screen options http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/

From this post, it looks like the ‘Location’ functionality you speak of is relegated to the WordPress.org (self-hosted) version, and the WordPress.com (that corresponds to this support forum) doesn’t include that because it doesn’t need it.
It also appears that to get the slider to work properly you have to have posts that are labeled as sticky, and have a featured image that is at least 750px wide.
To make a post sticky, go into the Edit Post page, click Edit next to Visibility: Public on the right hand Publish panel, then click the check-box for Stick this post to the front page.

It’s not the Geotagging Location box missing, it’s the one that ought to be under the “Featured Image” box according to instructions given here http://alienwp.com/documentation/oxygen-theme-documentation/.
I’m trying/testing Oxygen for another blog (not ready to publicise yet).

Understood. That tutorial pages gives contradicting information, though. One of the screen caps clearly shows WordPress.com loaded, but everything else in the tutorial points to self-hosted WordPress install; including the line at the bottom that says you have to be on the newest version of WordPress and gives a link to download it.
It really does seem like they are pointing toward this:
https://wordpress.org/themes/oxygen/rather than this:
https://wordpress.com/themes/oxygen/ -
And if you are indeed working on a self-hosted WordPress install, perhaps the question would be more suited for the WordPress.org Support forum.
-
-
I’m using it on wordpress.com but it looks like I’ll ditch it anyway as there doesn’t seem to be a way to load it into a self-hosted wordpress install.
My fist steps into CMS systems – not a happy experience. Tempted to go Weebly now.

Themes licensed to run on WordPress.COM software can be exported and run on WordPress.COM software. WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you need help with a WordPress.ORG software install in the future and don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there.
Resetting your WordPress.ORG password http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password
WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page -
Edit: Themes licensed to run on WordPress.COM software CANNOT be exported and run on WordPress.COM software.

@prince0gotham
I apologize for your inconvenience in regard to this hijacked thread. Please read the Staff response from Ryan Coles here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/oxygen-theme-no-location-box?replies=2#post-2254940 -
It’s likely that staff response isn’t any help to @prince0gotham, if as I susppect, he also isn’t asking about the geotagging Location option, but has been caught by the same confusing (for newbies like me) tutorial caused by the alienwp.com documentaion page for the Oxygen theme as pointed out by @seanperryman.
There are several posts I found about this issue and all of them assumed it was a queston about geotagging and did not provide the correct answer – otherwise I would not have needed to post here at all.
