I have noticed a tag at the bottom of my blog post that i didnt put there.

  That is probably because you deleted the Uncategorized category and didn’t replace it with a different default category. Without a link to your blog, starting with http, we can only guess.

  its http://therealrunfatboyrun.wordpress.com and what you have said makes perfect sense, that is what ive done..

  All posts have to have at least one category assigned to them. Make a category to use as a default, then go to settings > writing and set the category as the default. You can then delete the numbered category.
