1) I want my text to go all the way across the page and it doesn’t.
2) How do I nest my pages so they can be scrolled through.

For your header, you will need to select a new image that better matches your criterion and your theme’s specifications:

In regard to nested pages, you can create a Custom Menu with sub-pages:

Re: text going all the way across the page. This is not for the front page, but for my other pages, e.g. http://janvoorhis.com/office-locations-and-directions/. The text goes about 2/3 of the browser width, and there is a lot of white space (actually, blue space) to the right of the paragraphs. Here is my description of the problem: https://janvoorhis.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/office-locations-page1.jpg
This is what my edit page looks like – there are no line breaks within each paragraph: https://janvoorhis.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/office-locations-edit-page.jpgCan I make each line of text longer, to reach to the right hand side of the browser window?

Try utilizing images that are within the specifications of your theme:
https://wordpress.com/themes/port/
The image you’re currently using is very large.
In regard to your text question, try adding the following CSS to your site:
/* Increase width of text division */ #content { width: 100%; }https://janvoorhis.wordpress.com/wp-admin/customize.php
