  Hi skyblueon,

  Custom domains are a feature of paid plans, so you will need to upgrade in order to add one — even if you have already purchased the domain itself elsewhere. There are two options for using an existing domain on WordPress.com:

  • Domain mapping (where the domain remains registered and renewed with your current provider)
  • Transfer it to WordPress.com (and renew through us each year)
