I have questions about connecting posts to Facebook pages.

How do I connect my Rat Patrol posts to the Rat Patrol page in Facebook? (I connected WordPress to my own Facebook page. Will I see new posts show up there?) How can I connect older posts to the Facebook pages?

I’ve read the info under Publicize, but I still have these questions. Thanks!

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hello there,

Happy to help you with this.

How do I connect my Rat Patrol posts to the Rat Patrol page in Facebook? (I connected WordPress to my own Facebook page. Will I see new posts show up there?)

I can’t see anything connected thus far, but this can be done here: https://wordpress.com/marketing/connections/storiesoftheratpatrol.wordpress.com

So long as you’re in the Facebook account that manages the page, you’re able to select the page that posts will be published out to.

New posts will then be published automatically.

Already published posts would need to be posted to Facebook manually.

I tried to post one of my stories to my Facebook page, but first of all, it posted the story with a picture that was not the chosen page’s picture. I had to delete it. I tried to go from Facebook to WordPress, but couldn’t see how to post a URL on Facebook.

So I’m stumped. How can I post to my Facebook page the site’s correct picture, plus the story? My ultimate goal is to post these stories on a third party Facebook page, The Rat Patrol group. That’s where I need the posts to be, not on my page.

It boils down to this: I want to post stories on Facebook (with the correct site picture), but on the Rat Patrol group page, not mine.

    Thanks!

  • If you’ve set a featured image on a public post, and that is not showing, can you send a link to the affected page?

We can test this with the Facebook Debug tool if we have a link to the post. It will show you what Facebook will display. We don’t have tons of control with regard to how much of the post text shows on Facebook, but if the image is big enough and specified as featured, that should show up.

Hi, I didn’t use a featured image because I already had a picture that showed on the page/post. It made it double, so I deleted the featured image and kept the page/post image, since it was the same. Do I need a featured image for Facebook posts? My posts show up without one now with the page/post image.

What’s the debug tool? How can I use it if I need it? How can I get you a link to the post? I deleted it when the wrong pic showed up. Thanks!

  • You can find the tool here:
    https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/

We do look for featured images, first. If you don’t have one specified, we look for the blog icon next. And if that isn’t specified and none of the other content types we look for are there, Facebook may just pick a random image or not show an image at all.

Perhaps there’s another way to resolve the duplicate image issue you mentioned?
