I have recently had a problem that resulted in my not being able to post new material to my site, one I have had with you for over a dozen years. The problem is all my type comes out compressed. I can’t seem to get the new block editor to make it double or triple space.
-
I even tried creating the text in my notes section, on my iPad, and transferring it to the WordPress site, but that didnāt help.
My website is a free lifeline for many people.
Please help me get it working again.
Also, if there is any way I can return to the old system I would be overjoyed.
And, my other site: http://www.chocolateratings.wordpress.com does not have this spacing issue.
The url: http://www.holisticdivorcecounseling.com that is hosted by go daddy is merely forwarded to the url I have with you: holistic divorce.wordpress.com.
Thank you so much! -
Hi there,
Your site is using an outdated theme that has already been retired. Since itās the theme that styles how your posts and pages look, have you considered changing it?
You can also change the size of the font directly in the Paragraph settings:https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/paragraph-block/#block-settings

Thank you for your reply.
I have considered it, but the thought of moving all my content is too daunting.
Is that the only way to space out the text the way I want it?
My other site is also using an old design and still works perfectly. -
Thereās no need to move your content when changing themes.
To change your theme, just choose one from https://wordpress.com/themes
The most youāll have to do after is maybe re-organize your widgets and menus, some folks even do this monthly just for fun.

Canāt I keep my old theme?
Is there any way to sample my content in a new theme?I just edited an older piece and now all the type on that one is compressed.
Is there any way I can get help from wordpress on the phone?

You can, but it is fully retired and hasnāt received any updates since 2015, so if anything breaks on it (the chances of which will increase as time goes on), like this spacing issue, it wonāt be fixed.
Is there any way to sample my content in a new theme?
Yes, you can preview themes with your siteās content following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/themes/#preview-themes
Is there any way I can get help from wordpress on the phone?
We do not provide phone support, but we do provide email and live chat support for customers on our paid plans: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

Hi. Have you tried the WP-Admin editor recently? Iāve been using it for over a decade, and itās still working like a charm for me. It is available to all WordPress.com members. See this post on page 3 of the topic block vs classic. -
If WordPress is going to fully switch to the block editor in the future, this wouldnāt be a long term solution.
I am very unhappy and, frankly, donāt know what to do.
I was fine with the old set up.
Perhaps, it would all be easier with Wix, or another host.
As they used to say, no good deed goes unpunished.
I created a free site that has been viewed over 200,000 times without a cent spent on optimization simply to help people. Now itās a major hassle. -

Perhaps not, but the way I look at it is that 14 months to look for an alternative blogging platform is better than 14 days or 14 hours. -
Iād be happy to stick with WordPressā¦just want a human being to do the legwork of switching to a new theme.
