    Hi there!

Yes, you do need the WordPress.com Business Plan to install custom themes and plugins. I am so sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you.

Good news, is that we do have great themes on WordPress.com that you can use at no cost on your current plan, and as you upgrade!

If you have any more questions, please reply here and I’ll give you help any way I can :)

    Cheers :)

    Hello vbutchqueen,

If you are purchasing through Site Ground, then you have a self-hosted WordPress, the differences can be found here:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

that said, as it is self-hosted, you should not have to upgrade to business to upload a theme, it sounds like you might be working on brooklynpresentscom.wordpress.com but you have another site on Site Ground with a different URL, and you are trying to install the theme on the wrong one.

If it is brooklynpresentscom.wordpress.com then it is hosted on WordPress.com and not Site Ground and what was said about Business Plans is true and themes already is true.

What is the URL that you have hosted on Site Ground?

    Thank you,
