I have theme files I'd like to upload to this blog

  However, there doesn’t seem to be a space to upload. Therefore, I will go with another option.

  You are confusing WordPress.ORG software with WordPress.COM hosted blogs.

  There is no FTP access and no blogger installed plugin capability on any free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and there is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality.

  The only themes we can use on WordPress.com hosted blogs are licensed and adapted to run on our multiuser software the themes are found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and in your dashboard at > Appearance > Themes

  There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs for security reasons and we cannot:
  upload any third party themes,
  create child themes,
  create our own themes,
  edit templates,
  create own own layouts,
  or use stylesheets from other themes.

  I’m not confused. I understand the difference between the two.

  I think a blogger should have more flexibility to upload their own theme files found by a third party. I understand the stance and the technical, however, and appreciate wordpress’ position even if I will choose another, more customizable option.
