Hi there,
First, you have to have self-hosted WordPress (sometimes called “WordPress.org”). The “root directory” of your site is located on your server, and its name and location depends on where your site is hosted. You can get to it using the File Browser found in the control panel of most web hosts, at which point you can upload your robots file and sitemap.
It looks like your site is hosted with wordpress.com, which is why you are having issues. Can I ask what you are hoping to achieve by adding these files? There might be another solution with your current setup.

Hi kmk3s,
Sorry, still do not understand correctly – “your site is hosted with wordpress.com” so how to remove such wordpress.com limitation. I have already paid for domain name and hosting i.e. https://wordpress.com/#plans ( personal one)
Please guide me further like how I will add tag manager script before body, analytic api verification how to do that?

Hi gaingainandgain,
The features you were mentioning above (accessing root file, adding robotics and sitemap files) are only available for self hosted WordPress, not WordPress.com. The many differences are listed here.
It also sounds like you are interested in Google tag manager, which is also only for WordPress.org
To move your WordPress.com website to a self-hosted (wordpress.org) website, you need to follow the instructions here.

Hi knk3s,
So finally you mean I have to purchase wordpress.org hosting? In my plan ( https://wordpress.com/#plans – personal ) there is no hosting? Is it?
Thanks!

Hi there,
All WordPressdotcom plans, including the free plan, includes hosting. However, you won’t have the kind of access to your site here on WordPressdotcom that you seem to want.
On WordPressdotcom we do not have direct access to our site’s htaccess file.
Our robots.txt is automatically generated by the site Privacy you choose (Public, Hidden or Private.)
All WordPressdotcom sites produce sitemaps which are automatically submitted to search engines.
As @kmk3s asked, please give us details of what you are trying to do with your WordPressdotcom site.
If in the end you decide not to keep your site on WordPressdotcom, DO NOT cancel your domain registration if you just registered it here.

Hi Justjennifer,
okay tell me then I want to implement AMP pages for my all blog post. Is this feature available in my plan?
Thanks!
-
Hi Justjennifer,
Thanks for your support! Last question that means I cannot pasted tagmanager script before body in my plant. If I have to authenticate analytic api file that also I cannot do in my plan right?
Thanks!
-
You are correct. Google Analytics can be used only in the Business plan upgrade.
It may be possible to use Google Tag Manager with the Business plan, but I do not know for certain. This thread is tagged for Staff input. Thank you for your patience while waiting for their reply.

Hi justjennifer / All,
It means AMP is by default available in wordpress? I donot have to do any setting in my plan right? as per – For all WordPress.com sites, AMP is enabled by default “For all WordPress.com sites, AMP is enabled by default”
So if i want to check AMP url is it possible I can search via view source?
Thanks!
-
WordPressdotcom tries to simplify things. You can see whether AMP is enabled in your site dashboard here https://wordpress.com/settings/traffic/
As it says in the support guide I linked to earlier:
Private/Hidden Sites
Google AMP is only available to public sites that are not blocking crawlers; if the AMP box is not available, please check the Site Privacy setting and set it to Public.
Your site at boost-your-knowledge.com is currently set to Private, so you’ll need to change it to Public first.

@kmk3s – a bit belated (sorry!), but thanks for your help here.
If you haven’t seen it yet, you might want to take a look at this support guide for forum volunteers. It has lots of valuable tips and info https://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpress-com-volunteers/
Again, thanks for taking time out of your day to help out in the forums. :)
If you have any questions about this, feel free to open your own new forum thread and someone will be happy to answer.

@justjennifer thanks! I am a newer volunteer, so I’m still learning the forum ways, but it is tons of fun trying to troubleshoot with people and point them in the right direction :D

Nice work, everyone!
@gaingainandgain I just wanted to add that we automatically control some contents of your robots.txt based on your site settings and features.
@kmk3s is correct in that to edit files you would likely need your own self-hosted site. But our Business plan does allow plugins, and you may be able to find one to control those settings.
