I have to load a plugin and write code to change a font size? I give up.
-
I don’t know why people love WordPress so much. It is about coding and NOT about writing. As soon as I find a blog with a good user interface, I am moving my blog.
The fact that only one of my several questions got answered doesn’t help.
I am soooo glad I didn’t go for the paid plan. Free misery is bad enough. Good bye.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Blogger installed plugin capability does not exist on WordPress.COM blogs and there is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality. You are confusing WordPress.ORG and WordPress.COM. For that type of functionality you’d need a self-hosted site running on a paid web hosting service. http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/ We have some built in plugins as you can see by clicking this link http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/
WordPress.com is a multi-user blogging platform. All blogs wearing the same theme use the same underlying template so and edits to it affect all sites wearing the same theme. That’s why we bloggers cannot access and edit anything in it.

This guide will explain how to move your WordPress.com site to another hosting platform: Moving to a Self-Hosted WordPress Site where you can set up a secure payment system https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-to-a-self-hosted-wordpress-site/
We provide support only for wordpress.COM hosted sites. Our support docs do not apply to
(1) local installs of wordpress.ORG software on your own server or
(2) wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, and we do not provide support for them at wordpress.COM.Also, note that we do not provide Jetpack support https://jetpack.me/support/ for sites linked to wordpress.COM accounts with the Jetpack plugin.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.

The Libretto Theme has a ridiculously large block quote font size and you are telling me that I can’t change it?
If I pay money, I have to deal with plugins and writing code just to reduce a font size?
What is wrong with WordPress making a user interface like MS Word has?
Why do people like WordPress so much? It has been a month long headache for me.
Please recommend a site with a user-interface meant for non-computer geeks that has attractive themes.

Alternatively, you could register a Blogger blog.

Thank you for your help.
Can I do the following with the custom design in the paid .COM plan?
Can I change font sizes?
Can I create logos for the social media menu? What do you mean by a secure payment system? This is a personal blog and not a business?
I am exploring all of my options, can you recommend something more attractive than blogger? or does attractiveness mean writing code?
-
Yes, to both.

Blogger blogs are as easy as they come.
WordPress.COM blogging is by far easier than wordpress.ORG blogging. When you run a wordpress.ORG install you will not have Staff support. You are on your own. Yes, there is a wordpress.ORG peer support forum https://wordpress.org/support/However, it is my experience that one can expire while waiting for responses to the kind of questions you have posted here at wordpress.COM in forum threads.

I went to the customize menu and outside of the CSS editor, it doesn’t do much.
Can I use the CSS editor to change font sizes?
Can I use the CSS editor to create logos for the social media menu buttons (For example Quora and Soundcloud)? What is the support like over at .ORG?
-
Read what I posted above please. Know that I do not recommend that anyone who is not adept at wordpress.COM blogging and who cannot cope with reading support docs and acting on what they read should move to wordpress.ORG blogging. You have to be with it over there and you can wait for answers to simple questions until you expire, because there is no Staff support, no one needs to answer any thread you create and it`s a read the flipping manual attitude that prevails over there.

I see that I can change the font size of the header and the base font.
Can I change the size of the block quote font?
-
-
Let my clarify that if you wish to change font size on every blockquote every time you use a blockquote in a post or a page that can be done without an upgrade.
These Google fonts can be used free of charge on any theme.
https://en.blog.wordpress.com/2015/07/31/free-google-fonts/ and you will find them in the customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/If you are referring only to the text inside of your posts and pages you can make some changes without an annually renewable upgrade.
For changing font families, colors and size in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page by coding into the Text ie. HTML editor see http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/07/11/formatting-text-pt-5/
For changing font colors in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page using the #4 icon (Select text color – change the text color) in Row 2 the Visual editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2
To display the second row of icons, first select the toolbar toggle icon at the end of row 1 and click it. https://i0.wp.com/en.support.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/kitchensink.png
Then see here https://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#text-color -
” who cannot cope with reading support docs and acting on what they read” This is rather insulting.
I’ve spent quite a bit of time reading the support docs and using that information. The work around for the inability to use the “improved posting experience” in the sketch theme for adding a featured image came from my reading the support docs.
I shared my work around here. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/featured-image-not-displaying-in-the-sketch-theme-1?replies=3#post-2630194
Are there any other questions that I have posted that are answered in the support docs?
