I have two blogs. one is a sub of the other. I want two separate blogs, not combined

  • Unknown's avatar

I set up a personal blog site. Then I set up a business site. The business site is accessed via my personal site. This means that no one can get to the business site without logging into my personal site.

I want two separate blog sites. How do I get a separate blog for my business?

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If I delete the site I don’t want, will I also delete the site I want to keep?

Please help! I don’t want to set up a site that my admin can’t get to without going through my personal site.

    Thanks!

    Hi!

Just to clarify, you have two sites currently on your account:

    byburgess.wordpress.com

    and

    bellmat.wordpress.com

Those are actually two independent sites on your account. However, they’re both managed under byburgess. Perhaps your’e looking to separate them out so that they’re managed by different WordPress.com logins? If you could clarify exactly what you’re looking to do, I’ll be able to help more moving forward.

I want two different sites not linked or connected. I was afraid to delete Bellmat while it was accessed through byburgess because I didn’t want to delete both.

    Thanks for your help!

That is exactly right! I want two totally separate sites with separate logins.

    Thank you so much!

Perfect – we definitely don’t want to delete either of the sites. That would permanently delete the address. You wouldn’t be able to start a blog with the same address under a different account.

First, can you create a new user account here?

    https://wordpress.com/start

You’ll need to use a different email address than you used from byburgess.

Once you’ve done that, reply back here with the username. Then, just let me know which of your blogs you want to transfer to the new user account. Then, your sites will be managed under separate logins!

the email address is (email visible only to moderators and staff)

    the username is pbceo

Everything related to bellmat on the byburgess site I would like removed. I want to start fresh.

I own both bellmat.com and byburgess.com via yahoo. I have both web and email. How can I get rid of the wordpress in the address?

    Thanks much!

I have the same problem. In WordPress’s help, I read to set up a second account with a different email address, which I have done, then transfer ownership of the 2nd blog to my new account and email address. I did this, but was informed at the end of the transfer, that because I had already registered the domain name, a “happiness engineer” would get with me shortly to complete the transfer. I’ve heard nothing. My current user account name is wktucker. I set up a new account with the user name of marykathleenclark53. I want to transfer the blog titled Journey of an Unwriter to the new account. Can you do this? My new blog’s email address is: (email visible only to moderators and staff)

I made a mistake above–my new user account is marycathleenclark53, with a “c” in the cathleen part, not a “k”.

I think my site is called

    pburgessbellmat
    pburgessbellmat.wordpress.com

My name, pburgess, shouldn’t be part of the name of the site. It should just be: bellmat.com

    Thanks!

    Hi @byburgess!

I transferred the site bellmat.wordpress.com to the user account pbceo. You will now be able to access that site when logged in under that account. The site byburgess.wordpress.com is still managed by your byburgess account.

I own both bellmat.com and byburgess.com via yahoo. I have both web and email. How can I get rid of the wordpress in the address?

You’ll need to map each domain to the correct site following the steps here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

For example, login under your byburgess account and follow those steps to map byburgess.com to byburgess.wordpress.com. Then, login under pbceo and do the same for bellmat.wordpress.com. Let me know if you run into any trouble!

For the email addresses, you’ll have to set that up separately on each site as well following the steps here:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/add-email/add-email-through-yahoo-small-business/

My name, pburgess, shouldn’t be part of the name of the site. It should just be: bellmat.com

It looks like you created a separate site pburgessbellmat.wordpress.com when you created your new account (pbceo). I can disable that site for you if you would like (since you now have bellmat.wordpress.com on that account). Can you just reply back to confirm?

@wktucker – It looks like Velda is in touch through private email. Let’s keep all further correspondence there!

    Thanks for all your help!

byburgess comes up whenever try to get into wordpress. I’ve quit Sarfari, but when I go to wordpress it automatically logs me into byburgess.

Is there a way to log out?

Also, when I click on My Sites it lists bellmat. I would like them separate. I don’t want a link to bellmat from byburgess.

Sorry to be a gain but I need absolute separation between the two sites.

    Thanks again.

Definitely! You can logout on this page:

    https://wordpress.com/me

Just use the Sign Out link on the left-hand side of the page. I’m betting that Safari may have stored your username and password so that it automatically logs you in when you visit WordPress.com. Try logging out and visiting WordPress.com though. Let me know if you’re able to login using your other username!

Also, when I click on My Sites it lists bellmat. I would like them separate. I don’t want a link to bellmat from byburgess.

    Done!

    Thanks, Jeremey!

I never would have guessed the signet was on the me page. I spent hours going through the dashboard lists.

Looks like I’m ready to start building my new site!

    Cheers, Priscilla
