I incorrectly typed my email address when setting up, and so I have been unable to verify the account. I am unable to use the change email address facility as I haven’t yet verified my email. What can I do? I don’t want to start over as I don’t lose the unique name I have for the site.

Hi jancarberry,
You should be able to add the correct email address on your Account Settings page — which will send a confirmation email to the new address. Just make sure you click on the link in the email to confirm this change.

This is a screen shot of the message that shows when I try to change it in account settings.
It reads the e-mail address of your WordPress.com account is not verified. Please verify it before updating this setting.This is why I am stumped. Basically my email address is missing one letter, I left the n out of virginmedia.com

It’s not possible to share a screenshot here but it can be uploaded to your Media Library instead. Please don’t link to the screenshot here because it contains your email address — I’ll be able to find it in your Media Library :)

Hello. I have the same problem. By mistake I registered with a mistake in my mail id. Now I can’t update it since my mail ID is not verified (because of the mistake in my mail ID I am not receiving the confirmation mail). I urgently need help. Thanks so much.

@vednah in your case the issue was also that the email address was already in the system with another account. I was able to resolve this by taking the dot out (it will still receive mail that way). You should have a confirmation email shortly.
If you’d like to try to combine this account with your other one, let us know.

Supernovia. Thanks so much. I received the mail. I have not confirmed it because it is important that I get the url I actually opted for vednah.wordpress.com associated with (email visible only to moderators and staff). Everything else is not important nor needed.
The other account vednahmail was created because while trying to resolve the problem on my own (before I received your support), I was able to log in with my Gmail ID but I wasn’t aware that a new account will be created. I hope this helps. Thank you!!

Got it. It should work either way since your provider treats the emails as though they are the same, and none of your site readers will see your address unless you publish it. Still. If it really matters, here’s how to change this:
– Confirm the address as it is right now (this will let you change it to the other address later)
– Log into the other account. Change the address to something else (maybe with two dots this time?) so that the address you want to use will no longer be used up.
– Confirm that new email address.
– Log into the correct account and change the email address there to the one you like.

It does not work. I confirmed the mail I received. Then logged in the wordpress account “vednahmail” and changed the mail ID to another Mail ID I have. It said confirmation was sent. But I never received a confirmation. I tried it again. Same result. I also checked the spam folder.
So the changed mail ID is not confirmed hence I could not correct the mail ID in the actual account “vednah” which I want to keep (vednah.wordpress.com along with my mail (email visible only to moderators and staff)).

I’m playing catch up here. So, it looks like you weren’t able to confirm the new email address assigned to your vednah account? And you want to change it to a different email address from what was already shared with supernovia?

I have a similar problem. I mistyped my email adres, so the confirmation email has been sent to an email that doesn’t exist. I can’t confirm the blog, and I can’t change the email adres.

The correct ID which should be linked to my WordPress Blog vednah.wordpress.com is: (email visible only to moderators and staff)
By mistake I forgot the last part and had typed in (email visible only to moderators and staff) when I registered. I then tried to sign in via GMAIL (before I got support) which worked but then another account was created with wordpress vednah.mail (which I dont need!).
As recommended, I tried to change the address in vednah.mail blog to another mail (it was recommended to add a dot but that did not work, so I typed in another Mail I have ((email visible only to moderators and staff)). It said, confirmation sent. But I never received it. Tried 2 times. Spam is also empty.
I really hope the blog issue is settled. I have an event tomorrow and need the blog for this. Thanks!
