I just bought the ubud theme

  its a portfolio theme and the sample shows multiple pictures on the front landing page, but I can’t seem to insert my pictures into the front page. I only have one blanks square with an X in it. How do I showcase a bunch of picture (that can be linked to other pages) on the front of my ubud theme? Thanks

  The way to make this work is to switch the way you are thinking about it.

  First create the pages you want to be linked to the front page. Once they have been created, they will be featured on your home page.
