I just cannot organise categories
-
Hello,
I have the greatest trouble letting my blog show only what I want per category.
My blog is about recipes, and so far, there is only one recipe there, under the category “Savoury dishes”.
I have installed the category widget on my side bar. There are, so far, 2 posts on my blog, one to introduce myself and the blog, which is in “Uncategorised” and the one recipe (see category above).
What happens is something I do not want, but cannot seem to solve: when I surf to the blog, the first thing I see on the homepage is the recipe, while I only want to see the introduction.
The same information (Introduction) also appears on the “About” page, but I obviously cannot set this as homepage.
So, is there any way I can let the homepage appear with just the “Uncategorised” content on it, or just the introduction article, and just leave my recipes in their respective folders?
I have tried everything: deleting categories, deleting parents, turning categories into tags, all to no avail.
is there anyone who can push me into the right direction, please.
Thanks,
Angela. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Thanks. This isn’t hard.
The thing is the main page of your blog is the BLOG. It’s where all your latest posts go, newest on top. The reason the recipe is on top is that it’s the newest.
If you want to organize things so that people coming to your blog always see the same message I’d suggest using a Static Page for that. It’ll kill your search engine optimization but it will do what you want.
Write a Page instead of a Post, then once it’s published go to Dashboard->Settings->General and you should be able to choose the blog to open on the static page you just created.
If you want, you can even use a Custom menu to put a Recipes tab in your header to collect all the recipes.
