    Hello, I just set up this site, gigi-thelabel.com
    and I realised I WordPress is not right for this site (I have another website with you so trust me I love you guys!)

    I am trying to buy the domain via another hosting.. but it has vanished.. has it vanished for ever?? I am finding mixed results about this online.. thanks in advance..

    Hi there,

    Cancelled domains are not released immediately, and it can take anything from a few days to over a year before a cancelled domain becomes available again, if at all. This was explained in the warning message that appeared when you tried to cancel the domain.

    In this case it will be a few days before your domain becomes available again to register somewhere else. It should be available again by Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

    Alternatively we can also restore the domain to your account, and then you can point it to another hosting provider until it becomes eligible for transfer in 60 days. Let us know if you prefer this option, and we can send you a link to pay for the domain again.

    Hi Kokkieh! Thanks for your prompt reply, and help on this.. yes, as a non-techy wasn’t sure what I was doing…

    As a long time WordPress user.. I think easier if yes, I restore the domain with you, you guys have always been quick to help.. and lets do it, as per your message:

    would it make sense to upgrade my account, which is now
    Site: gigithelabel.wordpress.com to add the free 1 year domain.. and activate this domain again..

    If you purchase any of our plans, then we’ll be able to restore your domain at no additional cost.

    If you only want the domain back, then we can email you a payment form and then restore it.

    Let us know what’s your preference.

    Hello, thanks for the quick reply…

    Can I ask your honest advice.. I am a fashion designer/artist. I am creating this site to showcase my design portfolio and collections..

    This is a new business venture, right now, now work ready to load, or branding yet in place… so I won’t be using it ASAP.

    So right now, I just want to secure the domain but then start creating the website in approx 2-3weeks once ready.

    Can you let me know cost wise, what makes more sense at this time:

    1. re-buy the domain (can you confirm the price again?)

    or

    2. get the personal plan (as I don’t need for anything else except to showcase work) & get the domain for free?

    If you plan to host your site somewhere else anyway, I’d just buy the domain and hold onto it for now. Then you can point/transfer it to your chosen host when you’re ready.

    But I want to recommend you consider WordPress.com as a hosting option. A major benefit we have over other hosts, is that we’re a managed host, so we take care of all the behind the scenes technical stuff like software updates, security, backups, etc. for you, so you can just focus on your site. And on our Business Plan you can do just about everything you’d be able to do if you hosted WordPress somewhere else.

    WordPress.com sites also support the portfolio custom post type by default – if you use WordPress at another host you’ll need a plugin for that, which means one more thing that can potentially break.

    If you decide to go with us, the Personal Plan will be enough to start with. If you find you need more you can always upgrade to a higher plan later, and you’ll receive an automatic discount based on the unused time in your original plan.

    If you buy just the domain, it will be US$18 – the link we’ll send you to pay only accepts payments in that currency, so you’ll be charged in USD rather than IDR.
