I just deleted my website – who owns the domain name now?

    I looked up my domain name and it displays ‘this domain is parked’. Does wordpress own the domain now?

    A previous thread on the forum talks about parked domains. This is what a staff member ( @kokkieh ) had to say…

    Cancelled domains are not released immediately, and it can take anything from a few days to over a year before a cancelled domain becomes available again, if at all. You should never cancel a domain that you still want to use, as there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to use it again somewhere else in future. Only cancel a domain if you’re completely sure you no longer want it at all.

    Can you explain what you mean by “own a domain”? Are you looking to move it elsewhere?
