I just lost 100 followers all at once! What happened? Is it the new European privacy laws?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
We have not removed any followers from any sites due to the GDPR legislation. The only ways followers can be removed from a site is if the site owner removes them from My Site ->People, or if the followers themselves choose to unfollow the site.
Where did you see the follower number change? In your blog stats, or on the subscription widget in your site’s sidebar? If it changed in the widget, that count also includes followers from your connected social media accounts and I see you reconnected your Facebook account a few hours ago. If we had a cached follower count for Facebook on our system, that would have been refreshed when you reconnected your Facebook account, and that would explain a change in the total follower count.

Yes – it was in the sidebar I noticed the change. Does that mean that between the time Facebook stopped publishing my blogs and when I noticed it and re-connected, 100 of my Facebook followers stopped following my blog? That seems weird.

The followers were not actually lost, the count was affected when the Facebook connection was interrupted. Once reestablished they should return.

Hmm. Well, I re-established the connection yesterday and that’s when they disappeared. They seem to be gone for good. Odd that it was an even hundred.
