I just need a membership site plug in with paid memberships AND user profiles!

    HELP!

I am simply trying to build a membership site where:

    1) Users can register to become a member, and choose a free, or paid level membership (roles)
    2) Users (members) once registered, can create user profiles with certain optional fields (metadata) that is searchable by other members.

It seems Ultimate Member satisfies the 2nd, but not the first (no paid memberships) and “paid membership pro” satisfies the 1st, but not the second (no member profile build capability)!

    What do I do?!

  • Hi Michael –

In order to use a membership plugin with WordPress.com the business plan would be required. Check it out at https://wordpress.com/pricing/

There aren’t any upgrades connected to the account you’ve used here. What site are you working on?

    Thanks Liz,

Yes, I am aware I need to upgrade my account, which I will gladly do once I get this question answered and a little direction.

The site is 3ie.io, I already have a basic site set up, and domain through GoDaddy, but GoDaddy does not offer plug-ins that facilitate a site where people can:

    1) Select a membership level (From free to paid)
    2) Have access behind a portal to content and event postings, as well as search membership profiles.
    3) Have the ability to create a profile with certain searchable metadata

Again, it seems there are options, but I am not 100% sure which will be best because it seems one options offers member profiles, but not paid membership levels, and the other seems to offer the opposite.

What should I do? Is there a way to set this up?

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for the additional details we can definitely help you out today. Since your site is not currently using the WordPress software the first thing to do is migrate the site to WordPress, either hosted here at WordPress.com or with another hosting provider. To help you make that decision we put together a chart:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

With WordPress installed and running question 2 will all be managed through the WordPress Admin. You’ll also be able to install a membership plugin which allows both free and paid memberships (there are dozens of them out there) with the WordPress site allowing you to add paid plans and disable public access to content.

The team at WordPress.com also develops the WooCommerce plugin for WordPress which supports memberships through the use of WooCommerce Memberships extension.

If you want to do this here at WordPress.com without the use of a plugin and on our free plans see:
