I just signed up for a free account and I can’t post, access a theme, etc

  My new blog name is sewstorebought.wordpress.com. When I sign in the dashboard comes up but with just half of the options it is supposed to when I go out and look at the faq sites. I currently cannot manage my blog, create posts or access themes, really nothing I need to make a blog.
  Is this because support is down for awhile? I have gone out and deleted cookies and rebooted. My computer will only accept IE 7.0 or less. Why can I not access any options?

  Sign into your account. Once signed in go to: http://en.wordpress.com/signup/

  You created a username but no blog. You can create a blog on this page.

  Did specify a blog address I thought and my reason for posting.
  This is not a self-hosted blog unless I clicked on some strange
  button.
  I think I get the difference between org and com as much as my
  Luddite-inclined brain allows.
  I don’t know how to include a link in this message and when you
  try to “visit my site” it won’t come up even though I can log in.
  Just how helpful are automatead messages anyway? When will actual
  messages recommence?
