I just want to change my profile pic, what is this crap?

    Setting up my profile on slyvinyl and I get redirected here just to accomplish a simple task….now I’m on a forum after being directed to set up a whole website?

    Tempted just to wash my hands of both for the absurd hoops you’ll make people jump through

    Hey there!

    Is this (https://slyvinyl.com) the URL of the site you are talking about?
    As I understand, you are trying to change the profile picture for your profile on this particular site, in that case, you can go to your user profile when you login into the site and update it from there itself; assuming you have access to do so.

    I also noticed that this particular site is not hosted here on WordPress.com and is hence isn’t on WordPress.com servers. You may try posting on a different forum specifically for WordPress.org (self-hosted WordPress sites) here:
    https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

    WordPress.com and WordPress.org are quite different and may have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names. Hence, have different support documentation and separate support forums. You may read the differences here for further reference:

    Hi there,

    It sounds like Slyvinyl uses the Gravatar.com service to manage user profiles on their site. To upload a Gravatar image, you need a Gravatar.com account, and a Gravatar.com account and WordPress.com account is the same thing.

    Now that you’ve created an account, you can upload a profile picture from the profile page at https://wordpress.com/me/

    https://wordpress.com/support/manage-my-profile/

    You can also do this directly on Gravatar.com – you’ll use your WordPress.com account to log in there.

    Currently you don’t have a site with us – you created only a username account without a site – and there’s no requirement for you to create a site. This account you created is completely free, and at this point is simply how you’ll manage your identity on the Slyvinyl site.

    If you’re not happy with this requirement to use Gravatar for a profile pic on Slyvinyl, you’ll need to contact the people who run that site directly to discuss this with them. We just provide the service in this case, and have no control over who chooses to use this service for their sites.
