I just want to make a new free site!!

    I would like to create a new, FREE .wordpress.com site under my existing account. I have tried to follow the guidelines, but I’m so, sooooo confused. Every time I go to do what they say, I end up having to have to pay something.

    I have two sites under my account: (email visible only to moderators and staff) and lagoonannex.wordpress.com. I just want to make another free site ‘lagoonannex2.wordpress.com’. However, when I try this, it wants to make it a .photo blog or some other stuff, and it wants me to buy a domain…

    I am not internet savy. I don’t get this crud.

    I just want to make another site within my account. I don’t want a domain, just a site.

    What am I missing???

    If you’re offered a .photo.blog site (which would be a free site) you must be completing the forms telling WordPress.com what your site will be about. Best to just type a single letter at step 2. Ticking “Blog” at the start of the process will get you one of the numerous subdomains ending in .blog. If you’d prefer a site ending in .wordpress.com try choosing “Business” at step one. Typing the full address of your choice at step 4 should get you the option you want (if it is still available). There will still be time to fine tune the address offered before confirming/selecting.
    PS: It’s possible that you may now need to clear browser cache or try with a different browser to have a completely fresh start.

    That is indeed what I wanted, and it worked perfectly! I must admit, I never would have imagined that I would have to choose “business” for a non-business site!
