I lost my categories

  I lost all of my categories . I recently went into dashboard and wanted to update my categories, and lost all of them. I only had the main one which was news and updates. I don’t know what happened. Yesterday I added a few categories back, but I really want to know if there is a way to get the old categories back, so I don’t have to go into every post and re categorize all 600 posts that I have.

  It appears that you used the Category to Tag converter under Tools–>Import.

  So, to get those categories back, you will have to do the opposite and use the converter to change those tags (that were once categories) back into categories.

  Does that make sense?

  Hi Rootjosh,
  Thank you for your help. I will head over there now and try to do this. It does make sense. So, if this doesn’t work is there an alternative?

  Sadly, no. Aside from, as you note, doing it all manually.
