I lost my post

My post is still in the editor but it doesn’t appear when it’s published accept for a few sentences.

i’m a complete novice so it could be the blind leading the blind here!
may i suggest you go into yr html editor
select all/copy and paste into to notebookword doc or what ever apple has.
[ do this incase i’m wrong and i always do it if i’m adding or changing something incase i mess it up completely so i don’t have to start from scratch!]then clear all the text in the html window and start again!
if it’s just text then it’s easy to copy and past from your word doc
then you go about inserting pics and high lighting words or inserting links
the only time i use visual is if i need to insert a link and want that link to open up a new page if it’s clicked on. i only found out about this the other day on this forum
some times if you high light or insert a link in visual edit mode it’s very easy to unwittingly split up the codes.
for instance you might highlight/bold a word in visual mode but what you have actually done is put the bold codes in another string of codes that is dealing with something else.
good luckif this doesn’t work apologies for wasting your time!

While in the middle of writing a post “It’s OK to be a child” the server maintenance box popped up. I hit the save button and followed the rules, no hitting the back button on my browser. Half an hour later the maintenance box disappeared and I hit “publish”. My post is gone, there is no draft of it, there is no publication. I would really prefer not to have to rewrite the whole post, can you help?

The same thing happened to me, although the maintenance box kept popping up every 2 mins. 2 hours later, the maintenance box no longer appears, but absolutely nothing happens when I make ANY changes on my dashboard…no posts are saved, none are deleted, no changes made to my settings, and so on. The whole of wordpress.com may as well be down again, considering how little I can do with my blog at the moment!

I’ve lost two just now. One proper post and one test post just to see what is going on. Fortunately I was able to retrieve the first one in the edit window and copy the content to my clipboard.
I’m not a novice here. Something’s not right.

K so NOT funny. I needed the material from my “It’s OK to be a child” post so I rewrote it with a new title in the event it should magically appear. Just as I was about to hit the spell check button the server maintenance box popped up, again. I had taken someone’s advice and had been hitting the control c often so I thought I was safe. My new post disappeared but I could paste it back in. When I checked through my dashboard the post had been saved and published, I even read it on my site soooo where is it now?
The new title is “I’m just a child in a silly red cape”. This is needed material and I am well beyond frustrated! -
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! My original post is till missing but my new post “I’m just a child….” has magically returned. Thanks for your hard work that saved my brain from a complete melt down as the clock ticked. Hope the rest of your day goes better.

i was wondering what was going on when saving corrections
it was taking a long time to return to the editor i did get a wee bit anxious……..
moral of the post disappearing story izzza……?!write your text on your pc and copy and paste

for my sins….pc and msoft word
i use notepad – microsoft- more
as it’s much simpler no bells and whistles and gets rid of formatting i can’t see
if yr using apple what is the name of the word/text doc
and fire fox do you know?
