I lost my volunteer web admin.

It appears that the website I have created for a not-for-profit wilderness medicine conference uses WordPress 5.0 . As the title states I have unfortulately lost my web administrator and I am unfortulately not as well qualified to continue her great work. I do not code at all. Is there an option to change the builder program so I can have an easier time editing the page?

    Hi banffwildernesscareconference,

What is the address of the site you are working on? It sounds like you are using WordPress.org software with another host (rather than WordPress.com) but if you confirm the address of the site, I can double check on that and point you in the right direction for support :)

    It is http://www.banffwildernesscareconference.ca

    It is hosted through godaddy.

I believe my problem lies with the newer software. In the past i could go in and see boxes that had each of the text and photos laid out on the screen versus the a list of code which is all i can seem to find now. I have looked to see if there is a different view, but I cannot find anything.

So the older setup I could ad a bar that was 1/3 of the screen (for example) an add a photo with some text under. or i could add a button or a link.

IF i can find that i should be ok other than the banner of which i cannot seem to find how to change the date that is displayed. if i have to i will just delete the banner and add a simple textbox.

BUt without that simple “box” visual without code I am lost with wordpress and I am considering moving to other software that I can use. Unfortunately i neither have the money to pay for, or time to find a free, professional…

  • @banffwildernesscareconference these forums are actually for the sites here at WordPress.com, which is different than what you have as your own WordPress installation at another host.

I’d recommend checking the support forum here:
    https://wordpress.org/support

In particular, you might also have some luck with the classic editor, if your previous webmaster had set something up for you that relied on that editor. You can find that here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/classic-editor/

    Good luck!
