I messed up my whole site – how do I restore it all to 3 hours ago?
-
I have been trying to update my site and have somehow managed to mess up the pages and menu. I have tried rescuing individual pages by restoring them but this has made things even worse! Is there a way of restoring the whole site to how it was three hours ago before I started this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Helen!
It’s not possible to revert to the configuration your site had 3 hours ago. If you had trouble with the content on individual posts or pages, we could help with that…but going back into your history of page orders, menus, etc isn’t possible.
However, I’m happy to come to the rescue! If you can explain what you’re trying to accomplish, I can lend a hand if you’re struggling with your settings.
Let me know. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks very much.

Thank you for replying. When I made some changes to my website I somehow (no idea how) managed to alter the tabs at the top of the page so that they no longer link to the correct pages. Even worse, my home page has been taken over by my blog page. I am trying to ensure that when someone visits my website the first thing they see is my home page. I hope this makes sense as I am in tears of frustration and about to throw my PC out of the window!

Hi there, Helen!
Wait! Don’t throw that PC out the window! Unless, of course, it’s your excuse to upgrade to a new computer ;)
To make your home page your static welcome page, you can go here:
Now, click Static Front Page in the left hand menu.
It appears as if you’ve assigned Home to both your front page and your blog page. It sounds like you want to keep it for your front page…but that you should change your blog page to “blog” in your drop down menu.
Go ahead and do that, then save your changes!
I’ve scrolled through your menu and clicked on each link. It appears as if the correct pages are opening. However, I can’t be sure how you’re hoping things will work. Can you tell me which menu items are linking to the wrong pages?
I’ll keep an ear out for your response…or the sound of your computer hitting the sidewalk.
Thank you!

Thank you for your quick reply. I have tried clicking ‘Static Front Page in the left hand menu’ but the page that is showing as my front page is my blog. I cannot find the way to ‘change your blog page to “blog” in your drop down menu’. Where is that menu please?

Hi again!

You don’t seem to have created a blog page. That’s why that option does not appear to you.
Here are the instructions for setting up a static front page WITH a separate blog page:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/You do need to add a new page called, “Blog,” before it will appear to you in that menu.
I hope this helps! If you have any other concerns, drop me a note. Thanks much!
