I need a new WordPress site

I have an old (2012) wordpress account I never use. I don’t want or need that old xxx.wordpress.com account. I want a new name and to purchase a plan and theme. How do I do that? Do I need to permanently delete the old account? If I do that, it looks like I won’t have access to WP for 30 days. That is not acceptable. Please advise.

Hi there, you can’t use the same email address for the new account, as your email address is your unique identifier here on WordPress.com.
In order to use that same email address on a new account without the 30 day wait, you’ll first need to change the email address on the old account to something else and confirm it.

If by chance you are using a gmail account, you can still use the same email address by adding a + sign and something else after your actual email address, so that would look like
myemail+old @ gmail.comon your old account.Post back here if you have more questions about this.

Ah, I’m also not entirely caffeinated yet. :)
You can also add a new website under this same username account without the need to delete the account itself or change email address if that email address is the one you want to use.

Thanks so much for your suggestions. I am still a little confused. I really just want to purchase the Radiate Theme and have someone else set up my website. But Radiate is not shown to me as an option when I click on the link you shared above.

In other words….I don’t want to create a website right now, I want to buy a WordPress product. Another question: Do I need to purchase a plan with WordPress to have my consultant proceed with setting up the website?

The Radiate theme isn’t a WordPress.com product. It is designed by a different company and designed to work with the wordpress software. Consequently the theme comes in two different versions. This is the host WordPress.com. If you buy the Radiate theme from the themes showcase here then you’ll need to create a site here to load the theme on to. If your plan is to build a site somewhere else such as Godaddy or Bluehost then DON’T buy the theme here. Buy the correct version directly from the developers Themegrill.

For help with the WP open source software, you’ll find documentation and forums at https://wordpress.org/support They use a different log-in system than the one here on WordPress.com, so if you don’t have a username there, you can register one at the top of that page.
