I need help!

I have an existing WordPress site (mariestumphauzer.com) which I want to keep. It has content and I don’t want to lose any of it. I was just trying to create a new site but it isn’t going well. It is listed as mariestumphauzer.wordpress.com and I want to erase that one. My fear is that I will accidentally remove the site I want to keep. Help?

The site I need help with is mariestumphauzer.wordpress.com.

  • You can specifically delete the unwanted site by following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/delete-site/

    http://mariestumphauzer.com is a self-hosted WordPress.org site, so it won’t be affected.

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

WordPress.org has complete documentation for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/ and support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Thank you – this was very helpful!

I am trying to create a second website – much like the one I currently have (and wanted to keep, mariestumphauzer.com) but TBH, I actually don’t remember what I did to get it to where it is as I am not uber techie. I would like to have the same kind of set up that I have now (free, no ads) but I don’t know what/how I did to get there – which is how I made the mistake of the one I just deleted.

Can you tell me how to make another one like the one I still have? I was miraculously able fumble into a way to give that website the domain name I’d chosen (it’s not WP). I’d like to have the same set-up again (my domain carrier holds the domain but WP is my free website).

Is there a way to put them under the same dashboard so I can easily go between both sites? They are separate projects but belong to the same business (Nutritional Therapy Services).

Do you know why my current working site isn’t upgrading, despite multiple attempts? Is it my computer (I do plan to get a new one in a few months)?

How do I know how much memory I have left before my website has too much content? I’d like to know before I hit my limit.

I have tried to read through the self-help stuff but it’s hard for me to narrow down, pin-point, and follow. Your targeted answer above was very easy to understand. Thank you again.

  • Hi @mariestumphauzer – We’re happy we could help earlier. As my colleague mentioned above, the site you have at mariestumphauzer.com is not hosted with us here at WordPress.com. It sounds like you wish to start a new site using the very same tools and setup.

You will next want to speak with the web host who is currently hosting your website. The questions you have above are great! Ask them the very same questions. That should help give you the confidence with how to move forward.

Thank you, Dean. With further looking, I see that my site is hosted by WordPress.org (I took a screen shot but don’t know how to show it to you). So they are different than you, I guess… I will try reaching out to them. Thank you for being kind regarding my questions.

  • Hi there – As best I can tell your site appears to be hosted with ifastnet.com. Does that sound familiar? If you’re not sure, I recommend contacting the person or entity who first helped you get started with your website setup. Just as well, it’s likely you are paying monthly for a host for your website. View your transactions and see if you can locate the company you are paying for that. That’s the limit of the help we can provide in this case, but I hope this helps. Good luck! :)
