Hi there!
Can you let us know what the URL is of the site where you’re having this problem? Once we have that information, we’ll be better able to advise.
Thank you!

Hi there,
It has been a while since I have updated our website. I always have logged in using this link:
https://www.downingelectric.com/wp-admin/
and I am getting this error message:
Error thrown
[] operator not supported for stringsSo I need to know how I can make updates to our site. Thank you!

Thanks for that. Your site is not hosted with WordPress.com but instead a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org ) but hosted at GoDaddy.
We cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. But, I can get you pointed in the right direction.
You should reach out to your host for help with this issue. Since they’re hosting your site’s files, they also have access to those files and are the best ones to help you regain access to your site and fix that error message.
If you still have trouble, please reach out to the WordPress community for guidance:

The site was created in WordPress and I have always been able to update it there. We created the site initially in Go Daddy and then point it to BlueHost. We have always made updates through WordPress. What is the process to move it over to WordPress?

WordPress.org is open-source software that can be installed on other hosts, such as GoDaddy. You can compare the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/#overview-of-options
At the moment, your domain is registered on GoDaddy and pointing to their servers: https://gwhois.org/downingelectric.com+dns
If you like, you can migrate your site from GoDaddy (or Bluehost) to WordPress.com. Here’s how: https://wordpress.com/support/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/
Please keep in mind, you’ll need access to your existing site to do this, so you might want to sort out your domain/hosting situation beforehand. I suggest contacting GoDaddy and/or Bluehost for that.
When you’re ready, you can migrate your site, including using your custom domain. With a plan upgrade, you can connect an existing domain to WordPress.com.
It’s worth noting that a new annual plan purchase includes a one-year free domain registration. You can use this to transfer your domain to WordPress.com, extending its expiry by a year.
If you’re interested in that, you can review plan pricing and features here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
I hope that helps and please reach out again if you have any further questions.

If I change hosting from Go Daddy to Word Press, do I have to do anything once I pay for the plan? Do you guys make the transfer so there is no interruption to service? It is incredibly confusing to me that I have to do this in order to make simple edits on my website, which was created in Word Press and I have always made changes there. I just want to double check that this is accurate.

Should you choose to migrate your site to WordPress.com, you would need to transfer your content, as well as connect or transfer your domain. We do not offer a migration/transfer service at this time.
However, we do provide a service for customers who would prefer to hire an expert to build their WordPress.com site for them. If this is something you’d like to explore, you can visit this page: https://wordpress.com/do-it-for-me/?utm_campaign=happiness
Otherwise, if you prefer that your site remain on your current host and would like to manage it through WordPress.com, you can do this using the free Jetpack plugin.
Hope that helps.
