I need help clearing the blog’s cache.

Can I even do that if I’m not a paying costumer? I know people see my Social Media Icons on the Home Page and I even see them if I run Edge but on Chrome they don’t show – and I’ve cleared my browser’s cache many times, to no avail.
Idk what to do to be able to see them, I need to edit them and I can’t.

    Hi,

Idk what to do to be able to see them, I need to edit them and I can’t.
What your website address? How to edit the Social Media Icons would depend upon how they are displayed that is, what type of WordPress.com feature they are displayed in. They can be added and displayed using the methods described in the following support pages:

So removal of the icons would depend upon how and where they were added.

Regarding clearing the browser, WordPress.com has a section in the How to Solve Common Browser issues dealing with that called Clearing Your Browser Cache.

I know people see my Social Media Icons on the Home Page and I even see them if I run Edge but on Chrome they don’t show

I’ll call for staff attention regarding the different results on different browsers that you’ve described. Staff will respond here.

    Hi there!

Are you referring to the social icons as shown in the screenshot below?

I took the screenshot from Chrome. I also tested it on Firefox and I was able to view the social icons on both browsers.

If you’ve cleared the browser cache and you still can’t see the social icons on your homepage on Chrome, please take a screenshot of what you see. Here are the instructions for taking a screenshot: https://wordpress.com/support/make-a-screenshot/

You can upload the screenshot to your media library at https://wordpress.com/media or upload it to https://snipboard.io and share the link with us here.

Hi and thanks for the replies!
aisajib, when I use a secondary browser, I see the same thing you see in the picture. The problem is on my main browser. I have cleared my browser cache several times – manually and using my antivirus cleanup – but my icons don’t display at all.

This is what I see on my main browser

This is what I see in the edit mode

I can’t select the icons to change them. And I’d really like to fix this issue on my main browser, it’s the one I use to write all my posts. Also my Twitter Feed widget doesn’t show for me in my home page but other people see it. I only see Instagram and top pages&posts.

  • Thanks for the additional info!

It’s a good sign that you can see those in other browsers, so let’s focus on Chrome going forward. For reference, everything looks fine for me in Chrome, so I will show you what I see: https://d.pr/i/59tk2A

So it sounds like there may be an issue with Chrome on your computer, and we’d like to rule out a few things first. It sounds like you have cleared your cache but I did not hear you mention if you have cleared your cookies.

Usually when an issue like this occurs, it can be traced to an expired (or broken) login auth cookie stored on your local web browser. It looks like you are using Google Chrome as your browser, so to rule out any issues with cache, cookies, or extension conflicts, can you visit your site in an “Incognito Browser Window” instead of a standard one?

If you do that, do you see the buttons as normal in Chrome? Thanks for the additional info!

    Hi Jerry!
I just tried the Incognito mode and the problem persists :( no icons to be seen.

It seems I solved it (by brute force I guess).

I uninstalled Chrome completely, reinstalled it & now I can see my Blog as you all see it. Finally I can edit those icons again!

I don’t know why I had to resort to that, so if anyone does have an explanation, I’ll be grateful. I’ll see how long this lasts xD

    Thanks all!

That’s odd indeed! But I’m glad to hear that you’re now seeing the icons on Chrome! :)

Let us know if you have any more questions.
