I need help getting back my site name
-
I was in the process of creating a wordpress site. I already selected my site name but before I completed the process, I decided to delete the site and start all over again. The problem I have now is that wordpress now tells me the site name is not available. I want that exact site name I chose at the beginning. Is this something that will refresh after 24hrs and then become available or is there another way I can choose the name I initially had? PLEASE HELP!!

It’s unfortunate you ignored all the warnings required to delete a blog. Site deletion is a permanent and irreversible act. I am sorry but you cannot claim a deleted blog URL. No one can use a deleted blog URL regardless of who registered it. Deleted blog URLs are not recycled here and you can confirm by reading:

Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

https://healthpolicyeffect.wordpress.com is no longer available. The authors have deleted this site.

Thanks for replying. I am totally new to blogging. I did read the warnings before deleting but nowhere did I see that I couldn’t reuse the site name. Except I missed reading that part. Anyway, my naivety should be attributed only innocence.

I was actually going to pay for a domain name but thought it was wise to just go back to the free site since I was just starting. That was why I decided to delete and start over. So timethief, do you think using a domain name as a newbie has any advantages? Also, if you don’t mind, since we’re at it, can you suggest articles or materials to read so I can learn more about blogging? I know I can search online at the risk of sieving through irrelevant or wrong info. I am just wondering if you have any personal favorites for beginners. Thanks for your help.

Thanks! I see those links are to your blog. I think that’s cool. How fortuitous! I’ll certainly be checking it out regularly as I continue to develop as a blogger. Thanks again, timethief.
