I need help organizing my Gallery
-
Now that vivianpaige has helped me organize my categories, I need help organizing my Gallery. There are 48 thumbnails in it now and I would like to be able to link each image to the post that it belongs to, if that’s possible. TIA
-
Happy new year!
I don’t think you can do that with gallery thumbnails: at present they are set to link either to “attachment pages” or to full-size originals. For 3-in-a-row thumbnails that link to posts, you need independent images, with html coding for links as well as for resizing, possibly also for tables. (If you need help with that, at your service!)
Vivian has said that tables are easy to do in Windows Live Writer (I don’t have first hand knowledge about that, as I am a Mac user).

Thank you and joyous new year to you, panaghiotisadam.
What you describe sounds like a major undertaking that I just don’t have the time to undertake now but I appreciate the information and your offer. I have been meaning to check out Windows Live Writer for a while now so this gives me more motivation.
BTW, what the heck are “attachment pages”? I see the term when I post images but don’t know what it means.

An attachment page is what you get when you click on one of your gallery thumbnails (because you have selected that option): a larger view of the image, in a page similar to the other pages of your blog (as opposed to the full-size original alone).

Oh. Then “attachment page” was either the default choice or a lucky guess. The other option is “image file” but what is that? If all this is spelled out somewhere, my apologies, but I’m learning as I go so thanks for your patience.

Yes you’re right, “attachment page” is the default choice now (before 2.7 it was attachment page – no choice). The “image file” option is the “as opposed to” of my previous post.
Note that the attachment page is more elegant, BUT
1) it will restrict displayed image size to the maximum allowed by the theme
2) readers can leave comments, but it’s a phantom page you cannot control or edit. -
Thank you again for the clear explanation. I will experiment and check out the “image file” setting.
