I need help pointing my domain to zenfolio!
-
The staff move things around all the time and understand what can and can’t be done – – so that is why I flagged this for their attention

Good morning! I got a bite! WordPress staff emailed me back and this is what I got:
QUOTE:
I will have to update the A record and CNAME on your behalf as there is a particular process that must be followed.Could you advise the specific details of the A record and CNAME records that Zenfolio has asked you to update and I will begin the process for you.
I sent him the link to Zenfolio and hopefully it’ll be taken care of sooner than later. Grrrr…. this is not fun!
-
Oh and some bad news if it doesn’t work:
QUOTE:
Sorry to cause any worry but I was just giving you a heads up that you might need to transfer your domain name somewhere else. If you are not aloud to change the Arecord and CNAME.You should ask WordPress and see what they say.
Zenfolio users use custom domain names all the time but it ultimately depends on the domain registrars. If they cannot point using the Arecord and CNAME, then it does not work with Zenfolio.
**Translation: You might need to first switch domain to GoDaddy or another host before pointing it to Zenfolio. I think……

Thanks for the update. I’ve emailed wordpress too and made it public to hopefully help someone else. I can’t switch my domain yet because I recently purchased it :(
I need answers now!!!
-
I’ve had my domain for over a year, so luckily, that’s not an issue. I just can’t believe things have to be so complicated to understand.
-
If I knew it would be this complicated, I would’ve just used godaddy like everyone else…
-
I’m still waiting on a staff reply. I can’t believe wordpress doesn’t have a phone number… another thing I wish I knew before purchasing a domain through them!!!
-
oh my goodness, it’s been fixed!!!!!!! I don’t know who fixed it, zen or wordpress, but it’s resolved!!!!!!!

Have you followed the steps listed here?
http://help.zenfolio.com/customer/portal/articles/407799-a-record-cname-on-godaddyYou can change your own DNS settings by following this guide:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-management/Our domain registrar has a very similar interface to GoDaddy, so the Zenfolio instructions for GoDaddy should work for you.
Please note that it takes up to 48 hours for DNS changes to take effect. Let us know if you still have trouble.

@lilacblossomphotography sorry I didn’t check this sooner! I took a screenshot and sent it to your email. On the other thread I started for the staff, the member said she thinks I figured it out on my own, but just didn’t wait long enough… Lol I was being very impatient.
-
I got it fixed. I had to transfer my domain to GoDaddy and then it was done lickety split! They’re awesome as far as customer service! I could do it all on my own.
Word to the wise: YOU HAVE To change the nameservers to point the domain to GoDaddy first THEN change the A record and CName for Zenfolio. You don’t need a middle man to do it.
