I need help with my portfolio
-
I’m trying to publish a portfolio of my work on a separate page but the WHOLE thing is messed up! I don’t know why it’s appearing uneven, with the gallery encroaching on the left column of text while my Instagram feed is ginormous, however it looks completely fine when I’m editing
WP.com: Yes
Jetpack: No
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

Hey there –
I’m happy to take a closer look at this. It sounds wild. Looking at the site menu, can you tell me which page you’ve built the portfolio on? Normally that would be listed as “portfolio” but I couldn’t find it. Thanks.

Thanks. It was in Drafts but I just published it for convenience. It’s https://acitygirlsthoughts.wordpress.com/__trashed/ (I don’t know why the URL labelled it as trash)

Hi there,
Thanks for clarifying, I can see your issue now. I see you have created a nice (very nice, actually) layout in the block editor, which I think is awesome. The problem in this case is that the theme you are using (Scrawl) is an older theme that was created before we had a block editor. It does have basic compatibility, but because the theme was not designed with this editor in mind it does have some limitations, specifically it uses a design that has a smaller content area, and is not able to take advantage of some of the wider layouts that the block editor is capable of.
For example, if I were to preview your site using a more modern theme like Appleton theme, it would look like this, very faithful to the original layout you created in the editor:

This is because Appleton is designed with the newer block editor in mind, and can easily display the layouts you create there.
In this case, due to the age of your current theme, there is not really a ‘fix’ we can employ to show the full width layout. The Scrawl theme just is not designed to handle it. But if you were to switch to any of the recommended themes here, you will be able to depend on the view you have in the editor as being faithful to the finished page:
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Thanks. I was wondering if I was doing something wrong haha, but glad to know the reason! Besides Appleton, what other themes would you recommend? The link you posted covers all themes

Click the Recommended tab there and you should only see themes that are compatible with the Full Site Editor. Those give you control over the layout of individual pages, as well as the site itself:

I’d recommend choosing one that’s close to what you want, then modifying from there.
