I need help with sidebars and widgets

Hello everybody. I’m totally new to wordpress. I have set my blog up primarily as a website with static pages. I am using the Twenty Eleven theme. Right now, there is no sidebar displaying on my site and I do not know how to make one display. I would like for a sidebar to display on my entire site (on every page). I tried to add the facebook like widget to my site but it’s not showing up. There is nothing on my sidebar. The things I want on my sidebar are: facebook like widget, flickr widget, etc. If somebody can help me out with simple step by step instructions, I’d really appreciate that. Thank you.
