Hi Paula! I see some .mov videos in your Media Library here:
https://lottieataleofhappyhoofprints.wordpress.com/wp-admin/upload.php
Were you able to successfully upload these videos? If you’re still having trouble, could you let me know the specific error message you were receiving?
-
Hi Jeremy,
No I wasn’t when I copied and pasted the link this is the message that I get when I preview
Your uploaded video is encoded incorrectly: we are unable to process it. Please try using a standard format (.avi, .mp4, .m4v, .mov, .wmv, .mpg), or different encoding software. If I just do the insert in post and then preview the file name comes onto the screen and if I click on it the screen just goes black…
Could it be that mu internet connection is to slow?? None of the clips are more than a couple of mites long.
Thanks for any help you can give me :)
I only upgraded so that I could put videos on otherwise I wouldn’t have bothered…

Hi!
It looks like the .mov files you’re trying to upload are not video files. I downloaded one from your Media Library, but I was unable to get it to play in QuickTime either.
I just tried to do this on my side, and I was able to capture a video from my iPhone and upload it to my Media Library, so I’m not sure what’s going on here. When you open the files on your computer, are they able to play in QuickTime?
-
uumm I just plug my phone into my mac and download then upload them from my albums…. However I’ve found my quicktime app and then uploaded them to that and they converted, then trying to upload them to the blog and all the info comes up (as the guide) but the first time I tried last night they failed have tried again, it may be my broadband speed :( (I can’t seem to upload to You Tube either) ..
Should I be doing anything else?
Thanks for your help -

Hi Paula,
Slow connections do tend to make uploads break, and the larger the file, the more likely it is a connection might suffer. Even videos about a minute long like yours are still much larger than, say, image files. When I look at your .mov files currently in your media library, they’re also missing a total file size — leading me to believe they did not fully upload. A slow or broken internet connection is the most common cause of that. Sadly, there’s not much to be done other than re-trying each video upload.
The connection would also explain why you’re seeing the same issue with both your media library here and with YouTube.
However the first thing to confirm is that the video files do indeed work before they’re uploaded.
Are you able to watch the videos both on your iPhone and on your Mac?

Hi Alex,
Thanks for that, I can watch the videos on my phone and on my mac.
So I guess it’s looking like its my internet connection :(
I suppose a trip to Macdonalds where they have free wifi and see if I can upload there…Thanks for your help much appreciated….

Hi again!
You can share videos on Facebook a couple different ways. First you can upload to Facebook directly:
https://www.facebook.com/help/154271141375595/
Or if it’s uploaded to your WordPress media library, you can copy the video’s URL (example) then paste that URL into your status update on Facebook.
Or if you’ll add the video to a post or page on your WordPress site, then you can share that post or page to Facebook — people can then click through to your site and view the video here.

Sorry what I meant was that I can upload the video clips to FB (although slow) but they fail when I try and upload to wordpress..
Sorry for any confusion

Ah, well to be honest I don’t know much about how Facebook’s video system works. I Just know that the .mov files you currently have in your Media Library have the error that our system does not recognize them at video files.
Since the videos work while on your Mac and iPhone, and .mov is a supported file, that error would indicate that the whole file did not make it over during the upload. Just now I uploaded a .mov file to your media library as a test, and it correctly uploaded and processed. I then deleted it so it wouldn’t take up any space in your library.
I still only see the same three .mov files we looked at earlier this week — have you attempted to re-upload the files?
-
Oh ok – yes I did try and they failed again just saying a HTTP error.. I will try another video
-
Could you please take a screenshot of the HTTP error so I can show it to my systems team?
Once you have that image, upload it to your media library — hopefully the error won’t happen then since it looks like images have uploaded fine in the past.
-
I can’t believe it I’ve just managed to upload a video and when to preview and it says it will be ready in 10 mins :)
Hopefully it won’t happen again but if I can;t upload any more I’ll take a screenshot.
Thanks you so much for your help and patience

Happy to help!
Those HTTP errors can be annoying, but re-attempting the upload really is the only thing to do. Thanks for sticking with it. :)

At least I know I’m not doing anything wrong, I think it’s because I’m at the end of a 3.5mile piece of string from the main exchange so a crap broadband line !!!
Thanks again!
It will make such a difference to my blog to be able to put up videos :) chuffed

Thanks for uploading the screenshot. That is indeed the error I thought it was. Unfortunately there’s not much to be done in those cases except re-attempting the upload.
I see that your .mov file named IMG_0603 (Converted) made it through and processed though! So that’s a win!
