Everyone answering question here is a human being and it is insulting to imply that we are not human beings.
When you are domain mapping you have to pay the vendor of the domain name annually to renew. WHOIS
You also have to renew your upgrade here at wordpress.COM annually.
You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, renew or cancel any upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew. Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades.
If you are not logged in under the correct username account clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies and then login under the correct username account.

I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to offend you. I was very frustrated because I was looking for a contact telephone number and kept being directed to the forum. In some other sites’ forums, you get directed to posts of previous people with similar issues to your own and there is no direct answer to your question.
I didn’t realize that the phone support was only available to upgraded accounts. I was driven by my desire not to show to the entire population just how technologically deficient I am. Having this discussion on a public forum may be easy to you, but it is not to me. Thank you for your assistance.

The only way you can renew your upgrade is if you log in to WordPress.com using the exact same username you bought the upgrade with. -
