I need major help!!

    I am building a website as a practice project for my web design class, but it keeps trying to get me to pay for things. I have to submit a link to the websites home screen but each time I try to get the link it just reroutes me back to word press homes page and not my site. How do I build the site for my class with out having to pay for anything??

    Surely the home page link/your site address is just https://cis135class.wordpress.com/ What exactly do you mean by the websites home screen and it just reroutes me back to word press homes page and not my site. ? Do you mean the backend of the site which only you can see unless you add people with edit ability, (You could capture a screen shot).
    You can build a free site here easily but web design has moved on these days and rather than building things from scratch most people are happy with ready made theme templates which can often be customized with the new Block editor rather than old-fangled ?SS. You can of course add CSS to a free site as a stand-alone paid upgrade.
