I need more storage – why the expensive charge?

I got an email a few weeks back saying my 12 month upgrade plan was coming to end…and I could renew it for £17.

Now I couldn’t do it at the time, so I cancelled the auto-renew.

However I have now had a change of heart.

But there is no option for a £17 anymore. Do I really have to pay £85 for Premium? I just want more storage space. It is not worth £85, and I don’t know why you offered it to me for £17 beforehand.

Have you looked at your Dashboard > Store > Space Upgrades? From there you can purchase a space upgrade only, not the whole premium pack.
If this isn’t helpful add the tag modlook to the right sidebar of this post for further assistance from the support staff.

Unfortunately, your username account was registered after September 1st 2014. Therefore, you will not be able to purchase the space upgrade as an individual upgrade. https://en.support.wordpress.com/space-upgrade/

fstat – I have looked at Dashboard > Store , but there’s no option for a space upgrade.

I have already had a space upgrade last year. But for some reason it ran out after 1 year, rather than let me continue for the whole 10GB. If I knew this, I would have uploaded all my photos in earnest to make the most of my plan.

So if I bought the space upgrade once, I cannot buy it again?

Only go Premium for £85? WTF.

In another thread the staff indicated a change in the policy (note how they just sneak it in with no announcement) – just having an old account will not let you buy just the space upgrade – you will need to buy the special cable TV bundled with stuff you don’t want and won’t use pricing package – you would need to have purchased a space upgrade in the past to get the fair price

I have purchased the space upgrade last year, but it ran out last week. I was offered a price of £17 to renew it, but I turned it down.

Now I cannot find the option to buy it for £17 again – all I see now is the option to upgrade to Premium for £85, and I’m not doing that just for a little more storage.

I have added a few weeks onto your space upgrade subscription which should give you the ability to renew.

As has been mentioned, our product offerings are changing and what was available in the past may not be available in the future.

I now see an option to add 25GB of space for £42.

Is there anything cheaper?

I suspect that you will need to manually run the renewal this time. Auto renewals are run 30 days prior to an upgrade’s expiration. Since there is less than 30 days left, I do not think the auto-renewal trigger will happen.
