I need my 2007 blog removed

  • Unknown's avatar

I know….the various tips say that a blog cannot be removed. Here’s the problem: I created a new blog recently (within the past 2-3 months). The blog is at stevetabler.wordpress.com but what i didn’t realize is that an old blog that I started in 2007 by mistake is still here, and is similarly named: steve.tabler.wordpress.com I can’t seem to access this old blog, reset the password on it, or do anything with it. It is an empty blog. I can’t even put in an explanation redirecting people to the new and correct blog. I list the new blog on my resume, and I worry that readers of my resume are finding themselves to the wrong, empty, blog, and simply moving on. Attempts at password reset for the old blog end up causing password resets on the new blog, so the only way *I* can think of to fix this is for someone in support to go into the MySQL and edit settings as appropriate.

You did not specify a blog address or reason for posting when you created this topic.

This support forum is for blogs hosted at WordPress.com. If your question is about a self-hosted WordPress blog then you’ll find help at the WordPress.org forums.

If you don’t understand the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, you may find this information helpful.

If you forgot to include a link to your blog, you can reply and include it below. It’ll help people to answer your question.

    Dear Automated message:

TWO blog addresses for blogs hosted for me at wordpress.com are involved. Both blogs are listed in the message. This is not about a self-hosted blog.

You need to prove ownership to have the staff do anything to a blog – all blogs are the property of the original account – password reset requires the account name or email address – there are some other ways but they are much harder –

On the good side – that blog will never come up in a search – the only way anyone will find it is if they spell your name wrong –

I did leave a comment on the blog so if you have the email account from when you opened it you should have received an email from the blog –

Thank you for responding. I did post a comment yesterday to the old blog con taining a link to the new blog. Your comment hasn’t shown up here. In 2007 I had 2 ISP connections with most of my email being handled by the old cable company. I suspect that I setup the 2007 blog using the cable company provided email box, which was deleted several years ago, and is why I don’t receive any email notifications from the 2007 blog .
