I Need My Domain Back
-
I decided to take my website hosting elsewhere, but I still need the domain name I was going to use and signed up for. I can’t purchase it separately now because it says it’s been taken since it was registered already. Can i get it back? Purchase just the domain name? Do i need to wait?

Howdy –
I’ll be glad to take a look at things for you and relay the available options for your domain. First, please confirm that you’re inquiring about flooffeed.com?
Before you head out to a different host make sure they are going to handle all of your updates, back ups, security, spam protection, seo, ssl, and that they offer top notch hosting specs. I’m partial, but our plans have all of those features built in, and more. We have folks dedicated to working on these around the clock so you have a top performing web presence – you aren’t going to get that with a bargain solution.
I’m also a small business owner, and having these features always working saves me so much time that I really am able to focus on content and not worry about the back end details for my projects.
Looking forward to hearing back about the domain so we can get that sorted for you. -
It is about flooffeed.com, yes. So i actually need to transfer my domain over to Bluehost. I signed up for the wrong WordPress as I need a little more customization and features offer through .org plug-in. I will be handling the backups on my own. Thank you for looking out for me!
Bluehost has given me two URLs to transfer the domain over to them. Shall i just post them on here?

Oh gotcha. So, on WordPress.com you’re able to utilize plugins from the WordPress ecosystem with our business plan. Did you know that?
If you still want to move I understand. No hard feelings. I’m just making sure that you know what is possible here.
We need to restore the domain to your account first. Then you can use it here, or point it to another host. Either way, it needs restored, and I’ve done that.Once we hear back about your hosting plans we will be able to determine what you owe for the registration. The domain registration is included with your business plan purchase, so you would just click on that link I shared above and then you’re all set. If you’re going to host it elsewhere we need to recollect the domain registration fee, so let us know.

i considered the offer, but I feel where i’ve chosen to host is giving me alp that and more for a better price point. Thank you for the info tho.
i was hoping to register the domain through the other host because they also offer free domain registration with the purchase of a plan, but i’m sure to keep it, i’ll probably have to pay you guys? New to all this

Hey there,
i was hoping to register the domain through the other host because they also offer free domain registration with the purchase of a plan, but i’m sure to keep it, i’ll probably have to pay you guys? New to all this
So, you canceled the domain within 5 days of registering it, so it should be available again soon. Once a domain name is deleted by the registry at this stage, it is immediately available for registration by any registrant through any Registrar, which happens shortly after the 5-day grace period.
It’s up to you, but we can immediately restore the domain for you within that 5-day period, but after that, we no longer have control over it. So, depending on where you want to register the domain, you should decide ASAP how you want it re-registered. You can always point the domain over to your host from WordPress.com until the 60-day transfer lock is lifted (where you can transfer the domain anywhere you please). That will at least guarantee you will get it back without any potential complications. Let me know. For more information, please check out: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/transfer-domain-registration/
Thanks,

so, i was under the impression by what you said that if i just waited five days, i would be able to register it with a new registrar. I still cannot use it elsewhere, and it still says it’s a wordpress domain when i put it in. It has been well over a week. Any idea why i still cannot use it? The 60 days doesnt apply here, right? Because it was deleted within 5 days

Yes, that’s usually what happens and I’m not sure why it didn’t in this case.
I was able to recover the domain (without any charge to you) and add it back to your account. Since this appeared to be an issue on our end, we won’t be billing you for the domain registration.
You can use the domain for your new site immediately by updating the domain name servers to point to your new hosting provider. Name server changes do take a few hours to fully propagate across the internet, but you can use a website like What’s My DNS to monitor that progress.
Also, since the domain was not released, the 60-day transfer lock would still apply, but you can use the domain now by changing the name servers as indicated above. Then, you can transfer it to your new hosting provider once that lock is removed on March 20, 2023. This lock isn’t something we control and is set by the domain registry authority, so we’re not able to remove it any sooner.
Let us know if you have any questions.
