I need my domain subscription cancelled immediately

  • Unknown's avatar

I transferred the domain many days ago to a new service, please cancel my domain so I can at least add a Offsite redirect as you current are still holding on to it I cannot set that up.

Also on a side note I have made several private support request which have gone unanswered. I am very disappointed in the lack of service on these.

Please if a normal person can help or an actual staff person can cancel the custom domain I would be thankful.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

See this page on how to cancel a domain: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/cancel-domain/#cancel-domain

    Also note:

If you cancel a domain, it is held by the domain registrar and may be sold in auction or otherwise made unavailable to you.

If you wish to use it with a different hosting platform, in most cases all you need to do is update the nameservers as timethief indicated. For a few platforms they require a bit more assistance (A Records/CNAMEs), so if that’s the case in your situation, just let us know what needs to be updated and we’ll take care of that for you.

You can also transfer the domain to a different registrar. There is no cost to do so but the new registrar will likely require you to renew it for at least one year with them.

You don’t want to cancel the domain. You DO want to cancel the Domain Mapping.

Dashboard >> Store >> My Upgrades >> Domain Mapping will have a cancel Button with it.

Also on a side note I have made several private support request which have gone unanswered.

Emailing support means it takes longer to get an answer than posting to the support forums does.

Staff work through all email support tickets and all forum threads tagged for their attention in order of datestamps and timestamps – first posted first served, as would be expected.

It’s not in your best interest to post to threads after they have been tagged for Staff help thinking you are going to get service from Staff more quickly because that moves the timestamps forward and it takes longer to get a response. The same is true if you email more than once the date moves forward and it takes longer to get help.

All of that means nothing as I have read it, thanks anyways. I have already moved the site to a new domain many days ago. Followed all of their process in transferring a domain and now I need them to cancel the subscription as they don’t have the tools to do so.

I need a human at wordpress.com to cancel the subscription as their process states I have to make a support post.

    … which they don’t answer!

    Thanks timethief

Yes indeed. I see such a Cancellation information link on my dashboard, so provided you are logged in under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchased the domain mapping upgrade for it you will find it too.

    Auxclass

I cannot see an actual cancel domain mapping button.

I think because my domain was transfered they are holding on to the domain mapping.

So because the domain has been transfer the dns I cannot get to this option.

My thought is to enable it and then cancel it??

My domain name is not registered here & I have the Cancel button with my Domain Mapping. If all you see is the fact that the Domain Mapping is present that indicates as @TT noted above you need to be logged in as the Exact Account that owns the domain Mapping upgrade.

Is there another account you might have used to buy the upgrade?

Ok I have turned the nameservers to point at wordpress.com

    Domain: girlinafoodfrenzy.com
    Domain Mapped to WordPress.com

    >>Learn More
    >>Domain Settings

    Status: Active, Manual Renewal
This upgrade will expire in 12 months on March 16, 2015
    DNS is correct
    >>Cancel

The only options I see at in >> bold

I think because the custom domain was purchased via wordpress they don’t show that option.
