I’ve already mapped my domain but no content is coming up.

There is no domain mapping upgrade for makemydayperfect.com. If you would like to use this domain you will first need to set up domain mapping form http://www.makemydayperfect.wordpress.com/ to it.

WordPress.com provides free blogs and free hosting for them. WordPress.com does not accept domain name transfers but mapping to an existing domain can be done.

Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own and purchased elsewhere is not done free of charge. You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made it and the domain mapping purchase here every year.

    Important Notes Before Upgrading http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#important-notes-before-upgrading

Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually. In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.

See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

    Non-WordPress.com Nameservers

Although makemydayperfect.co.uk has been registered, it is not using WordPress.com nameservers. If your domain is mapped to a self-hosted site, then your configuration may be fine as currently set up. If you wish to host your site at WordPress.com, you will need to update your nameservers as outlined below.

To learn about how to correctly map an existing domain, please see our documentation. If you’re not sure whether you own this domain or not, the WHOIS database record may help you out.

you need to change your name servers – also WordPress.COM does not have static IP addresses

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Ask your registrar why the name servers have not been changed

Ok, that doesn’t make any sense, surely i need my IP address for my blog?

Is there anyway to actually speak to anyone at WordPress?

  • Unknown's avatar

Those ARE the six different IP addresses for your blog (and 30,000,000 or so others here) – the IP addresses change here depending on server load and equipment maintenance etc. and are not guaranteed to stay the same – you will need to check the IP addresses here on a regular basis and update things if they change

PS – we can flag this for staff attention (they have no phone number) – but they will tell you the same thing I already have

I’ve added in the top IP address that you gave me following this request from lcn:

Address records are used to point your domain name to an IP address, e.g. to the server which hosts your website.

    And nothing has happened?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi Jojo,

Please note that we don’t have a single IP address for your site since we have your site on a number of geographically-diverse servers to improve speed and uptime.

Since we change out the IPs we use based on when different datacenters/server go online, we don’t suggest using IP addresses.

Our suggested route is to map your domain (by adding it via the Store > My Domains page on your site’s dashboard), add the MX records currently on your site to our Store > My Domains > Edit DNS, then changing your nameservers to WordPress.com.

However, if you still want to go ahead and map your domain using A records, please be sure to create at least two, pointing to two different IPs from the list below.

Let me know if you have any questions with this!
