I NEED TO CHANGE FONTS

For my class, I have to use this website and one assignment requires changing the font for a post. How can I do this without purchasing the 300$ offer?

Are you referring to a site hosted by wordpress.COM?
If you are, then have you noted that you can use free Google fonts? These Google fonts can be used free of charge on any themes.

Additional information re: fonts in individual posts and pages
If you are referring only to the text inside of your posts and pages you can make some changes without an annually renewable upgrade.
For changing font families, colors and size in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page by coding into the Text ie. HTML editor see http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/07/11/formatting-text-pt-5/
